AnalysisBorn in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961, Barack Obama became the United States' first African-American President when he was sworn into office on January 20th, 2009. As a very liberal and progressive president, Barack Obama impacted the freedoms of many Americans while he was in office. In the case The Affordable Care Act, Barack Obama gave many Americans access to healthcare, but only did so by raising taxes for wealthier Americans. Through his actions on climate change, Obama did his part to help preserve and improve the world's climate for American citizens and keep the planet in the same position as it was when he took office. Finally, while his views on marriage equality faltered for many years, Obama's ultimate support of it while in office helped pave the way for many LGBT+ Americans to enjoy the same marriage rights as their fellow Americans.
